Portfolio websites

For developers

A developer portfolio website without building one more side project first.

Plenty of developers mean to build their own portfolio, and it stays half finished for years. Use a design that already works, put your real projects in it, and spend your time on the projects themselves.

What a developer portfolio should show

Lead with two or three projects you can talk about in depth, not a long list of tutorials. For each one, say what it does, which stack you used and why, and the hardest problem you solved. Link the repository and a live demo when you have one.

List the skills you have actually used in those projects. A shorter list you can defend in an interview beats a long one you cannot.

Do you get the source code?

If you searched for a portfolio website with source code: this is not that. Your page is hosted here, and the design code is not handed over. If you want to own and edit every line, a site you build yourself and host on GitHub Pages is the better choice.

Use this if you would rather have a good page live today, with fast server-rendered HTML and a clean link, and no front end to maintain.

Common questions

Can I link my GitHub and LinkedIn?

Yes. Your page has a place for your links, and each project can link to its own repository or demo.

Is there a design that looks like a terminal?

Yes. Terminal is a developer console design where your story types itself in and your work opens like files.

Can I export the code?

No. Pages are hosted on the platform and there is no code export.
